“Mandarin” style fan with appliquéd ivory faces. Paper continuous pleated leaf with a blue, green and red ground and a painted court scene with the emperor and many figures on the obverse. Decorative border with animals and a meandering floral vine on a silver ground with gilt paper binding. On the reverse are two black and two white ducks, pink flowers with yellow, purple and green accents, and a butterfly on a silver ground. Gold scrolling motifs on a blue ground border the center painting. Carved and pierced ivory sticks with figures employed at various tasks and floral motifs. The guard is elaborately carved with figures in various domestic scenes.
