DescriptionLeaf of silver-plated copper threads, decorated with silver-gilt lace, braided and couched silver-gilt threads, applied brass sequins and silver-plated copper metal forms. Fourteen machine-carved bone sticks, gilded, with "gold" piqué work. Gilt ring at rivet. "Fontage" style fan. Considerable gold piqué work is missing. The amount of metal present has resulted in a fan that is very heavy for its size.
ProvenanceGift of Mrs. Robert Lee Wolff to MFA, September 17, 1986.
