DescriptionThin cotton cloth with design painted in dark brownish-red background and light and very dark brown; ground divided into squares by crossing fret bands, squares enclosing a variety of conventionalized human figures wearing elaborate headresses and accompanied by birds, and conventionalized bird forms.
Provenance1941/1942, probably acquired in South America by Roland Terry (b. 1917 - d. 2006), Seattle; 1947, sold by Roland Terry to the MFA. (Accession Date: June 12, 1947)
