Warp of linen; a band of very dark brown wool tapestry with a tracery design of natural-colored linen. Part of the band shows a tracery design of a row of heart-shaped motifs, another part shows interlaced cable designs and the middle part shows two rows of dots. Design shows Roman influence.


Discovered by W. M. F. Petrie in the Graeco-Egyptial cemetery of Hawara in the Fayûm in 1888. "The interments in this cemetery were made from 400 B.C. to 150 A.D. This piece dates from 200 B.C. to 150 A.D.
