Fragment of left half of face from a nearly life-size head of a statue of a deity. It has the facial features of Amenhotep III, including the characteristic almond-shaped eyes with thick cosmetic lines squared at the ends, curved brows, and full, distinctly edged lips. It joins the proper right half = MFA 44.28, now joined.

Provenance

1944: right half acquired by the MFA by exchange with the Peabody Museum, Harvard University; 1976: left half sold to private collector at Sotheby Parke Bernet auction December 11, 1976 (lot 225, p. 67); by 1979: Mrs. Michel Abemayor collection; purchased by the MFA from Mrs. Abemayor February 14, 1979.
