Metalwork

Plaque engraved with the right arm of a crucifix, a representation of the moon, a standing haloed Saint John and an inscription (Greek). Hammered, turned, engraved, and tinned on both sides. In a frontal contrapposto pose, John wears a tunic and pallium that falls in a damp fold over the right thigh. With his raised right hand he points to a Gospel book resting in his left hand. His short hair is marked by parallel lines. Vertical lines over the shoulder of the crucifix suggest that he is wearing a colobium.
