Vessels

Eros flying. Possibly part of an amphora in the University of Vienna (631A) showing Ares and Aphrodite (according to Martin Robertson). If this is true, then the object to the right of Eros may be the draped arm of Ares, rather than a large palmette, as Beazley had thought.

Provenance

By 1910: with Edward Perry Warren; purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren, June 2, 1910, for $4,000.00 (this figure is the total price for MFA 10.159-10.230)
