Design of the 13th cent. execution probably 16th century or later. The ground is of green silk. the embossed design of circles enclosing birds, face to face, separated by a floral ornament and conventional, symmetrical floral, ornaments, is woven with red silk and gold thread. Only the heads, legs and feet of the parrots are of gold. The gold thread is made with metal, not with gilded gold beater’s skin.
