De Vesme/Massar, p. 141, describes this very impression as an intermediate state between De Vesme’s first and second states, as the inscription in the center of the plate is different from those in both of De Vesme’s states. However, this impression has had the center cut out of it, and it has been replaced with paper with a hand-lettered inscription. The inscription in the banderole below the dove appears in this impression, which would make it an impression of De Vesme’s second state.
