「乍憚以口上御披露蔭を障子に写しせる事ハ頃日通家の遊なりしを這度我輩の陰を写して例の大錦とせられしが実に其人に逢る心地せらる願ふハ更四方の雲顧の御蔭に依て永当ゝ御求め給えらバ画工ハ更なり我々迄憑れがひに異何大慶これに過ざらんや其ため告條左様としかいふ」

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
