Obv: GEORGIO WASHINGTON SVPREMO DVCI EXERCITVVM ADSERTORI LIBERTATIS / COMITIA AMERICANA in exergue, around a bust facing right. Signed DV VIVIER / PARIS. F. below the shoulder.
Rev: HOSTIBUS PRIMO FUGATIS / in exergue: BOSTONIUM RECUPERATUM / XVII MARTII / MDCCLXXVI
Struck with the first obverse die (there is an accretion at about 7 o’clock) and the first reverse die (1A) which shows four legs under the horse, has the perfectly round “O”s and the correct roman numeral date. There are no signs of die rust on the obverse so it is an early strike.
