DescriptionCircular medal of Gianfrancesco Gonzaga, marquess of Mantua (born 1395, marquess 1432-44). Probably a later impression from an original mold.

Obverse: Profile bust of Gian Francesco Gonzaga looking to proper right, wearing high headdress; inscribed above "CAPIT·M[AXI·ARMI]GERORVM.", across field "IOHANESFR ANCICVS·/·DE·GONZAGA·", and below "PRIMVS·MARCHIO·MANTVE".

Reverse: Marquess on horseback looking to proper right, wearing armor with mounted page seen from behind; inscribed above "OPVS·/PISANI/PICTO/RI/S·".
