This suite of rather thin gold consists of a shaped rectangular brooch, pendant earrings, and a slim rectangular buckle housed in its original green velvet and leather box. All the objects have elaborate surface engraving with Chinoiserie images. A “Chinese” building appears on each piece. The brooch includes a design of a man fishing from a bridge.

Said to have belonged to a member of the Van Voorst tot Voorst family, The Netherlands [see note]. 2014, sold by Laseur Antiquairs, Amsterdam, to an anonymous private collector; 2017, anonymous gift to the MFA. (Accession Date: January 18, 2017)
