Provenance

Donated by James H. Cannon of Beverly, Massachusetts. Cannon purchased the instrument in the early 1960s from Keyman's Antiques in New York. Several small fragments of paper were found between the blocks and the adjustment screws that control the height of the balance rail. Pieced together, the following inscription appears: "For/Lord Vis[count] Lo..." This might point to an early owner.
