DescriptionPart of a set with 51.911a-d. Chinese for export, probably to Continental European markets. Boat: elliptical with modeled shells at ends one of which forms end of domed cover, pierced for ladle handle, which fits with flat edge into other. Fluted surfaces, splayed foot, cone (?) finial. Mulberry & gold guilloche borders & mulberry garlands on cover & tray. Medallions of lady flying dove on sides & in tray which has scalloped edge & modeled shells at ends. Ladle has deep bowl, shell in orange on back, border & flowers inside, shell on forward bent rounded tip.
