Embroidered border design, appliqued on fine linen ground, of twisting ribbons caught with trefoils intertwining with delicate flowering vine; in one corner, initials EWC; edged with band of Valenciennes lace; belonged to Ellen Wayles Coolidge, wife of Joseph Coolidge and granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson.
