Polychrome silk and gilt-silver yarns, gilt-silver lace, spangles and wire; painted paper, applied satin and raised work on pink and white silk ground. Conventionalized vegetative design. Top and pockets: raised flowers and leaves outlined in gilt-silver yarn and wires, spangles cover white ground; panels between: flowers outlined with gilt-silver yarn and wire on pink ground. Painted paper on center panel: wreathed black woman and gold crown. Blue and silver bows at top and sides. Gilt-silver lace edges. Tooled leather back. The forms behind the applique appear to be wood.
