Round, stiff cap covered with blue silk, trimmed with silver galloon, and silver tassels (large tassel on top, three small ones on side) and silver-plated (tin alloy) plaque on front with two armorial shields (said to have been used by household of the Marquis Varano, 1705-1788, of Ferrara, Chamberlain to the Emperor Joseph II, 1780-1790) and rococo ornament in relief.
