DescriptionSandstone head of a ba-statue. A solar disc, (representing the solar orb) in a metal fitting, would have been inserted in the hole at the top of the head. The statue was originally a full human form with folded wings.
ProvenanceFrom Shablul, grave 28E. 1907: excavated by the E.B. Coxe Expedition of the University of Pennsylvania; assigned to the University of Pennsylvania in the division of finds by the Sudanese government; 1907-1991: University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology; 1991: received by the MFA through exchange with the University of Pennsylvania Museum.
