This fragment has three finished surfaces. It may be the back of the head and a portion of both temple areas of a medium-sized sculpture. It may also be the rounded back of a block or seated statue. The stone is black granodiorite with sporadic black biotite inclusions and mica, the break areas look granulated. GD5.

From Nubia (Sudan), Kerma, K IV grave K 405 debris. 1913: Excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Sudan.
