DescriptionCircular uniface medal (obverse only) of Henry IV (1553-1610), king of France, Marie de'Medici, and the Dauphin. See 1971.641 for reverse. Set into a wooden frame. Cast of unusual size and is cracked beneath Henry's beard. Three-quarters bust of Henry IV superimposed on profile bust of Marie looking to proper left. He wears armor and Order of the Holy Ghost; inscribed at edge "HENRIC·IIII·R·CHRIS·MARIA·AVGVSTA·" and under bust "1607/G·DUPRE·F·1605".
