The seal is cut into an oval form and mounted with a cast openwork handle.

Inscription

ARMORIALS: on face of seal, the arms and crest of Southby, for Edward Southby (1712-1793) of Carswell, co. Berkshire.

Markings

On back, maker's mark, possibly HB ( Grimwade 961).

1960, sold by Claude Blair, Co., Surrey, to the MFA for £10. (Accession Date: September 21, 1960)
