Cap of cream net, in graduated shirred tiers, with turned-back brim of bobbin lace, pink silk lining, pink silk ribbon rose insets, and pink ribbon to fasten under chin. Large pink ribbon rosettes at sides.

Provenance

Worn by donor as a baby; Gift to the MFA, September 20, 2006. Donor was born in Chicago on July 12, 1928 and wore the cap as an infant. She assumes her mother, Harriet M. Mott (Mrs. Rodney L. Mott), purchased it at either Marshall Field or Carson Perrier Scott.
