DescriptionBarrel shape with single ear handle. White painted with bouquets of flowers in a shell outline of blue. Gilded around top, base, handle and shell outlines. Marked on bottom in blue with interlaced "L's" in the center, "CC" on the left denoting the year 1780 and a small "m" on the right denoting the painter, Michel. Cover decorated in same manner wtih bud and three-leaf gilded finial; has opening for lost spoon. Probably purchased in Paris by John and Abigail Adams and possibly later used in the White House.
