Tsuji banzuke advertising the kabuki drama “Okuni no matsu soga nakamura”, which was staged at the Nakamura Theater (Edo) from the 11th day of the 1st lunar month of Man’en 2 (1861). This style of banzuke was traditionally produced to advertise the annual “face showing” or “kaomise” ceremony that was held in celebration of the opening of the new kabuki year. The banzuke was published by Murayama Genbei.
