Tsuji banzuke promoting the kabuki dance drama "Hatsuharu no on-kotobuki Soga" that was staged at the Ichimura Theater (Edo) from the 11th day of the 1st lunar month of 1848. The day's program also included a Jôruri piece titled "Yanagi no ito yûsho karakuri" that was performed in the Tokiwazu and Naga-uta styles, and another drama titled "Masu dokko Hakata no uchikake". The banzuke was jointly published by Fukuchi Mohei and Yamamoto Jûgorô.

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
