DescriptionTsuji banzuke for the kabuki drama "Kosode soga azami no ironui" that was staged at the Ichimura Theater (Edo) from the 1st day of the 2nd lunar month of Ansei 6 (1859). The day's program also included two Jôruri plays: "Ume yanagi naka mo yoizuki" with Kiyomoto-style musical accompaniment; and the Tokiwazu-style "Chô kochô tsubasa no karuwaza". The banzuke was jointly published by Fukuchi Mohei and Yamamoto Jûgorô.

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
