DescriptionTsuji banzuke for the headlining kabuki dance drama "Tsuruha chitose suehiro soga" and the Tokiwazu-style Jôruri piece "Hikinuide kasumi no nidomise" that were staged at the Ichimura Theater (Edo) from the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month of Ansei 3 (1856). The day's program also included the dance drama "Yume musubu chô ni torioi", and the Tomimoto-style Jôruri piece "Ume yanagi koi no michizure". The banzuke was published by Fukuchi Mohei and Yamamoto Jûgorô.

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
