DescriptionTsuji banzuke for the headlining kabuki drama "Meoto musubi musume hyôbanki" that was staged at the Nakamura Theater (Edo) from the 2nd day of the 4th lunar month of Ansei 5 (1858). The day's program also included: the dance drama "E-kyôdai kotori no saezuri", with Kiyomoto and Naga-uta musical accompaniment; and the Kiyomoto-style Jôruri piece "Michiyuki mutsuragawa ukina no sazanami". The banzuke was published by Murayama Genbei.

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
