DescriptionKyôgen theater jacket with double-width sleeves of plain-woven natural ramie and stencil resist-dyed designs. Top half of the jacket has a design of cranes in flight and tortoise in green, gray and red on an indigo ground; on the bottom half is a repeating tortoise shell pattern (kikko-mon) overlaid with crests of five circles representing star clusters in tan and white. This jacket is part of a two-piece costume (hitatare) that would include a pleated, split skirt (hakama).
