DescriptionTThe long handle ends in the head of an ass. At the base of the handle, on the obverse, there is a youth emerging from the open mouth of a huge dragon-snake (Iason), and, on the reverse, a nude boy walking to the right, while turning his head backwards. Above each figure is a vegetal motif. The deep bowl is sharply carinated near the bottom and has a beaded rim. Side of bowl missing. Green patina, with corrosion and earth deposit.
ProvenanceBy date unknown: with Charles L. Morley, 25 East 83rd Street, New York 28 (said to have belonged to the Roumanian royal family); purchased by MFA from Charles L. Morley, February 11, 1952, for $75.00
