DescriptionThis redware lamp consists of a dish-shaped body with a modeled, dome-shaped central reservoir with two wick holes. The rim of the reservoir and the wick-side of the body and rim are blackened from use. Some portions of the rim have chipped off and are missing. A point of attachment for a handle is visible, but the handle has broken away and is missing.There are traces of treatment with a white slip.
ProvenanceFrom Nubia (Sudan) Gebel Barkal, Pyramid 6 (tomb of Nawidemak). 1916: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of the Sudan.
