This lamp is fashioned of a black clay fabric and treated with a black wash. It has the general shape of a small spouted bowl/cup with a slight foot. A central cylidrical element runs through the vessel, creating a ring-shaped reservoir for oil. It is intact.
From Nubia (Sudan) Gebel Barkal. Excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of the Sudan.
