The lamp was suspended by a chain attached to the ring in the strip of bronze rising out of the bird’s back. The lid on top of the bird’s head was attached to the swivel-pin which remains between the little knobs at the back of the head. Lid on bird’s head and separately cast plug for circular base of the lamp are missing. Even, dark, black patina, overlaid with considerable encrusted earth.
