In the collection of the sculptor; owned as early as 1883 by Maria Weston Chapman, Boston, Massachusetts, the organizer of the Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society; offered by her to the Museum in 1883 and accepted as a gift from her in 1875, shortly before her death.
