DescriptionThe circular body has a molded rim and foot, and two applied scroll and shell handles. The pink (rose) ground is overlaid with marbling in blue enamel, pebble like shapes outlined in carmine enamel, and gilt dots in the interstices. The shaped reserves are painted with fruit and flowers on one side, and on the other, just flowers, and are both bordered by tooled and burnished gilding. Gilt bands encircle the rim and the foot, and the handles are decorated with both plain and feathered gilding.
Marks Both pieces: interlaced Ls enclosing date letter j, painter's mark of a comma for Charles-Louis Mereaud jeune (active at Sevres 1756-80) above, all in blue enamel.
