Obverse: Profile bust of Louis Philippe looking to proper right, wearing laureate wreath; inscribed at edge "LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANCAIS" and under bust "BORREL 1840".

Reverse: Duke of Orleans on horseback looking to proper left with sword drawn in his right hand; inscribed at proper right "BORREL DAPRES", proper left "MAROCHETTI", at edge "L'ARMÉE AU DUC D'ORLEANS PRINCE ROYAL", and in exergue "M.DCCC.XLII".
