DescriptionCircular medal of Louis XVIII (1755-1824), king of France.

Obverse: Profile bust of Louis XVIII looking to proper left; inscribed at edge "LOUIS XVIII ROI DE FRANCE ET DE NAVARRE." and under bust "GAYRARD.F. DE PUYMAURIN.D.".

Reverse: Central dove above a crowned, kneeling woman in classical dress at proper left who has a standard with three fleur-de-lis behind, presenting a child who holds a torch over an orb and snake to a standing woman at proper left, holding a cross and pour water from a pitcher onto the child; inscribed at edge "FILS DE ST.LOUIS SOYEZ CHRETIEN", abelow "GAYRARD INV" and in exergue "LES DEPUTATIONS DES BONNES VILLES/DE FRANCE/ASSISTANT AU BAPTEME/DU DUC DE BORDEAUX/1ER MAI 1821".
