Man’s embroidered linen shirt, made for General Caleb Cushing; long fronts from neckline to below waist, separate pieces sewn in, finely tucked in vertical bands alternating with bands of fine drawn work embroidery, edges of fronts arranged for studs, narrow finely pleated sheer ruffle on edge of left front, short turned back collar, full sleeves with fullness pressed into deep pleats between shoulder and turned back cuff; collar, fronts, and cuffs very highly starched, many brown stains, especially on collar and fronts.
