Black silk “beaver”. High flat crown. Brim rolled at sides. Black felt hat band; grosgrain binding. White leather headband. White silk lining marked “Special E.M,” “E. Motsch, 42 Avenue George V, 68.R.Francois 1er, Paris” and “D.P.”
The top hat is constructed with a pile weave that has silk pile and a cotton foundation. The hat band is wool and the brim tape is silk. The interior has a silk lining and leather headband.
