American, mid 19th century, of 18th century Spitalfields brocade. A man’s waistcoat of materical matching 53.192, dress; blue ground, horizontal interlacing ribbon and floral serpentines, brocaded with white and brilliant polychrome silks; roll back collar, slash pocket on each side of front, small self covered buttons, back of tan cotton twill, lined with white cambric.
