Jaina manuscript cover with design of repeating diamond lozenge pattern created by openwork weave on cotton ground within which are embroidered single floral motifs in light blue and green silk accented with biege silk; mounted on cardboard.


1913, purchased from the library of Puj Kripa Rishi, a Jaina priest, Patti, Panjab by Ananda Coomaraswamy (b. 1887 - d. 1947); 1917, sold by Ananda K. Coomaraswamy to Denman Waldo Ross (b. 1853 - d. 1935), Cambridge, MA; 1917, given by Denman Waldo Ross to the MFA. (Accession date: April 5, 1917)
