Pieced quilt with white cotton background and repeating twenty-four point mariner’s compass; compass points made of printed cotton of several different designs. Pieced border of triangles of glazed floral chintz alternating with triangles of white cotton. Batting of thin layer of white cotton, backed with cream-colored cotton plain weave and hand-quilted in chevron and outline; drop at bottom. Four stamps on backing-mostly illegible, but one that reads “Greene and [Pike], Bleachers, Providence”
