DescriptionThis fine yellow limestone incense burner is a model or miniature of the actual object. It symbolized the full-sized object used to burn incense in temple and funeral rituals, and was intended to provide eternal incense for the deceased.
ProvenanceFrom Giza; G 4733 E. 1914: Excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; 1947: assigned to the MFA by the government of Egypt.
