Obverse: Within a beaded rim, an axe and pipe crossed at center with portrait medallion at proper right (looking proper left and wearing a helmet) and proper left (looking proper right and inscribed at inside edge), and a burning oil lamp above and a beaver below; inscribed at edge and below.

Reverse: Inscribed in wreath and below.

Obverse: Inscribed at inside edge of proper left portrait medallion "VICTORIA DEI GRATIA REGINA" and "CANADA"), and at edge "NUMISMATIC AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY" and "*MONTREAL CANADA*" and below "J. D. SCOTT SC".
