DescriptionThis large cat mummy has been prepared with its linen wrappings in an ornate geometric pattern consisting of pane of two-tone rectangles. The head is in somewhat worn condition, but otherwise the mummy in intact.
ProvenanceBy 1836, Robert Hay (b. 1799 - d. 1863), Nunraw and Linplum, Scotland; by inheritance to his son, Robert James Alexander Hay (b. 1840 - d. 1928), Linplum, Scotland. Rollin and Feuardent, London; 1868, sold by Rollin and Feuardent to Samuel A. Way (b. 1816 -d. 1872), Boston; by descent to his son, Charles Granville Way (b. 1841 - d. 1912), Boston; 1872, gift of Granville Way to the MFA. (Accession Date: June 28, 1872)
