DescriptionCircular medal of Napoléon (1769-1821), emperor of France, commemorating the construction of the column erected to the Grand Army (1805).

Obverse: Profile bust of Napoléon looking to proper left with flags behind; inscribed above "NAPOLEON LE GRAND", below "MONTAGNY FECIT", and in exergue "GLOIRE A L'ARMEE FRANÇAISE".

Reverse: Column at center flanked by a building on each side; inscribed above "A L'ARMEE FRANÇAISE", below "MONTAGNY FECIT···", and in exergue "CAMPAGNE DE/MDCCCV".
