DescriptionCircular medal of Napoléon (1769-1821), emperor of France, commemorating the retreat of the army. From the "Histoire métallique de Napoléon le Grand prepare par la class d’histoire et de literature ancienne de l’Institut Impérial".

Obverse: Profile bust of Napoléon looking to proper left, wearing laureate wreath; inscribed at edge "NAPOLEON EMP.ET ROI." and on shoulder "ANDRIEU F".

Reverse: Warrior at proper left with fallen horse and canon at feet, fleeing from a personified storm spraying him at proper right; inscribed at proper right "DENON D.", proper left "GALLE F", and in exergue "RETRAITE DE L'ARMEE./NOVEMBRE.MDCCCXII".
InscriptionsObverse: Inscribed on shoulder "ANDRIEU F" and at edge "NAPOLEON EMP.ET ROI.".
