DescriptionGroup of large beads strung together. Includes: 12 white quartz ball beads, 3 carnelian flattened barrel beads, 1 amazonite flat oval bead with carved glyphs, 1 faceted amethyst, and 2 agate ball beads. From neck of burial, but order uncertain.
ProvenanceFrom Gammai, Nubia (Sudan), Grave E 64, objects #2 & 3. 1915-6: excavated by Oric Bates & Dows Dunham for the Harvard Peabody Museum; 1916: assigned to Oric Bates in the division of finds with the Sudanese government; Sept. 4, 1924: lent to the MFA by Mrs. Oric Bates; March 12, 1942: given to the MFA by Mrs. Oric Bates.
