DescriptionA shaped oval dish with a molded rim. The rim is engraved with two crests opposite each other below the molding.
Marks
Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, JLO, a shell (Dennis, 268). Charge Mark: for large work, 1783-1789: a crowned A (Dennis, 268). Discharge Mark: probably the mark for work intended for export 1781-1792: a ewer (Dennis, 268). Other: Guarantee mark used after 1838 for old small work: a boar's head (Tardy, p. 173); a shell there are only two illustrations of shells in Dennis , one is the discharge mark for 1781-1792 for Bordeaux (Dennis, 431A) and the discharge mark for small works, 1756-1762 for Paris (Dennis, 282).
